My wife and I vacationed in the VI's this summer. We loved it so much we are selling everything and plan to live on a sailboat and go back to school on St. Thomas. Can anyone make some recomendations about marina's? Cost of living and anticipated costs of sail boat maintenance? I am a very experienced "motorized" boater of 22 years and plan to learn the art of sailing. Thanks

The costs vary of course depending on the boat and the ability of the crew to do the maintenance. Marinas for live aboards are not cheap. Most people (or at least people in my economic bracket 🙂 live on the hook and come into marinas for special occasions. If you are going to the University you want to be in Elephant Bay more than likely and can run into Crown Bay for water, fuel and the occasional cable tv fix. Email me at [email protected] if you want some more specifics.
