Beautiful human creatures,

Wondering where to find out about renting a boat for living on St. Croix. My gorgeous boyfriend and I are already down here, just looking to mix it up a bit.

Any ideas?

Thank you all~

Let

Try asking at the marina offices. Maybe they know of slip tenants who don't use their boats and are willing to rent them out to help cover the high costs of keeping them in the marina. Mostly when you have people living aboard boats here they are the owners.

Don't expect a boat rental situation to be cheap. Green Cay Marina charges $25 per foot per month for slip space for liveaboard boats. A 32 foot boat (pretty cozy for two, we're not talking about lots of elbow room) would be $800 per month as the base slip cost plus the rent on the boat itself from the owner plus the power and water that are metered for usage.

Sounds like a loose/loose situation, as the owners of the boat will loose access to the vessel when they want to use it on a whim, & the costs as Alex points out are nearly what a very small apartment would be.
Also, the boat will most probably be needed to be removed from the dock for a storm/hurricane, which brings a possible positive scenario of say care takers to folks off island who are willing to split costs with a person or couple who is willing to implement their hurricane plan.
These things never seem to work out (the boat sitters feel like their doing allot of maintenance, the owner thinks the maintenance/depreciation is too high<<<<no one agrees).
To work out, this really takes a very perfect combination of people/circumstance, & a willingness to give on both ends.

You could, of course, say the same rental vacation condos on island!

Duly noted, though, Dun. 🙂

Original question stands. Thanks all~
