With all my searching, I have not seen much about doctors or medical info on the sites. If anyone can fill us in, it would be of great help.

My husband is on blood pressure meds and a few other. So prescriptions and doctors and insurance is something worth checking out for us.

Thank You so very much,
Joy & Kel

I work at the hospital and have discovered that a lot of people like Dr. Bishop and Dr. Campbell. I know there are several others that people like, but I've only been here a short while. I also found out that the cost of prescriptions at Golden Rock are about double the cost at Kmart.
In general, basic medical care is easily available, but I feel that even the best physicians are somewhat hampered by inadequate medical supplies and staffing. For more serious problems, plan on transferring or being transferred to Puerto Rico or Florida. For some reason ambulances seem to be bunched up mid-island instead of being disbursed throughout the island. That can cause significant and deadly delays in urgent medical care.
With the new governor and administration and with the building of a new cardiac center at the hospital there is hope that things will (gradually) improve. I guess I will wait and see.

I order the drugs that I have to order again and again on drugstore.com. Kmart usually takes about 4 hours to fill a prescription and one of the few places that takes most insurances. It takes so long because they are incredibly busy. So I only go there if I absolutely have to. Rather pay a little more at Golden Rock and get out in 20 minutes.

I do not know of any doctors that have websites down here. Many of them (especially the specialists) are on a kinda semi-retirement and can work odd hours and partial weeks. You could use the vi phone book that is online and try calling a few. I don't think you will have any trouble finding a doctor to prescribe blood pressure medicine and the like. Just find a general practitioner when you come and get to know him/her before you need them. Insurance is harder but the best route to start out with is to call your current provider and ask them if they cover this area.

I like Dr Braswell in Golden Rock. He works every day (except Tuesday) until noon and if you come in before 11 he will see you without an appointment. Fast and efficient and if he cant fix ya he knows who to send you to 😉

That should be "Dr. Braslow." He's at the Five Corners intersection. Yes, he's good. So's Dr. Bishop.
