Good morning every one

I have been told there are mobile homes on st croix. Is this true?
I just didsn't picture island life with trailers in it.....And how would you get one over there anyways. I mean are there any mobile home dealers on island? I live out in the country where I am and I see that everyday up here.... I can just imaging the neighbor a quarter mile down the road hauling his whole house on a flat bed furniture and all and shipping it to st croix. Oh the other hand would it be that much more expensive than a 40 foot container which is what I am going to need when all is said and done?
Just wondering and laughing pictureing it

Hey every one..... guess this post was a little silly. Thats me after not getting any sleep! But I have heard of mobile homes on st croix. As a matter of fact I saw one up for sale last fall sometime. So the question of if it os a common thing down there was real.

Not common, but there is one area, Peppertree (?...I think that's right) that is near the hospital that is a mobile home park complete with gate and guard. I don't know of any dealers here, but I'm sure someone knows the history of the whole little neighborhood and will share! There was recently a mobile home there that was listed for like $18K but it sold.

Some mobile homes were barged to the island following Hugo. Hovensa also has some mobile homes as part of their on-site housing for newly arrived employees and those who qualify for longer company housing. There aren't any dealers and mobiles really aren't the best option for this environment and the dangers of the hurricane zone. You would probably be better off converting some shipping containers into living space, which has actually been done.

I was not thinking of doing it myself...I just couldn't see how mobile homes would fit into the islands. I could not understand how they even got there in the first place. Thanks for the info

I don't know Tanya, I think living in a 18k mobile home on a tropical island wouldn't be to bad.... Of course like my husbands boss says anything with "on an island" in it is a good thing LOL.
