Any advice on where to go to find cars rented by the month, either originating on, or that can be taken to STJ?
My wife will be on island soon, and I'm still looking for a vehicle to ship down for her to use.
If I was joining her right away I'd be more open to the idea of buying a used island car, but as things worked out for us I won't be able to make the move down until a bunch of stuff gets taken care of here first.

All or at least most car rental agencies have rentals you can lease by the month.

If staying in STJ - check with agencies over there as STT rental agencies have no-one in STJ in case of breakdowns.
Slow season is almost here so you may be able to get a monthly lease on a rental car.

Back when I made the move, I had shopped around and found that Dependable Car Rental had the best rates. Note that you may have to take out your own insurance policy on the rental car before they let you drive it.
