Mosquitoes in the Toilet

Today I found mosquito larvae in the toilet of our second bathroom. If you have a BR that is not in every day use, its toilet is a perfect place for mosquito development. I never thought about this until today. I flushed and put a little bleach in the bowl.

So I learned something new today.

We aren't bothered too much by mosquitos in our house, but the one place I can count on finding them is the bathroom, even the one we use daily. Hmmmm, just had an idea. I wonder if you could hang a mosquito dunk in the toilet, like you do those freshener things. (A mosquito dunk is a little disk you usually throw into standing water to kill the larvae.)

They also will breed in the water that sits in the"elbow" below the shower and sink drains.

Just put a bit of bleach in the toilet and sink. Bleach kills mosquito larvae and probably prevents the adults from laying their eggs in bleached water.
