Where is MVB aon STX and what is the procedure for getting tags and registration?
(I know the info is on this forum somewhere. . . guess I did not word my search properly.)
Our pickup and scooter are in our possession with MD tags still intact . . . think we may be in some trouble if caught. I thought VI Cargo was taking care of this but was wrong . . . that's what I get for letting hubby take care of such details.
Anyway, your advice on what exactly I need to take and where to go to get it done in the elast amount of time would be agreatly appreciated!

Heading towards Fredericksted via the highway, turn right on the first light after the airport light. if you are near UVI, going towards F'sted, it is the first left you see after the school. If you go over 8 billion speed bumps then you are on the right track.

very thorough information here:

https://www.vimovingcenter.com/car/

Since you have MD tags on it, I don't think you need a moving permit (most likely not if you were allowed to drive it away from the container port). So start at instruction # 5: Inspection.

OK that was pretty painless . . . took maybe an hour and we actually ran into people we knew so the wait was extra pleasant (I brought a book to read just in case).
The only part I screwed up was going inside first and standing in the Registration line. Realized when I was second in line that I should probably get the inspection first. Yup . . . that's what you need to do. One of the guys out at the inspection stalls was pretty nasty, acting like it was obvious that you'd start outside at the inspection station. I kept my cool and just said, well, we thought maybe we'd first need to get a number first, we know now, no worries. . . . blah, blah, blah , , , he was cool with that and even lent me his pen. The other guy was nice and was the one doing our inspection, even let a faulty turn signal fly so we could get the tags.
After the inspection, back to the registration line, which was shorter now. Gave up all my important documents including our licenses.
Then waited maybe 30 minutes to pay and get the tags. Thought I was done, but realized they never gave me my title back . . . turn out you do not get the original back . . . you get a new VI one . . . thank goodness I asked because I would have left the building. Back to the registration window. Got the new title. Now I was done . . . except I saw they misspelled hubby's last name . . . oh well . . . the clock was ticking down, only 15 minutes left so the name is staying the way it is . . . hope that doesn't bite me later.

I seem to remember being told that if you had tags from another state you had like 24 hours to get to BMV to change them over. In all the BMV process has gotten much easier than when I first arrived.

Well the inspector let the busted turn signal go because nobody on St.Croix knows what it does.

well
my bf went to get the van inspected (not his van) it had window tint on the front window and two side windows. from what he was told it was within the legal requirments of percentage of tinting. the owner of the van does his homework and would know what that percentage is. well when he went for the inspection they told him only factory tinting was allowed and then ripped it off of the windows. so the owner calls the gov's office and they give him a number for someone to talk to but alas they are out of the office for a couple of weeks.
i believe that this could have been handled better by the people at the registration office.
