We arrived last night and moved-into our new house. All of the things we had expected to be nightmares turned-out not to be. Getting a Post Office Box at Sunny Isle was easy. We filled-out the form on-line and it took all of ten minutes (at 12:30PM) to get our PO Box keys. I bought a router at KMArt and an inside box from Choice and had 2MB internet up and working in about half an hour. SkysTheLimit had already set-up a satellite dish and we had all the cable channels you could hope for (though I still don't know how I'm going to get the Redskins...)

Welcome! Funny, that was my reaction when I first moved. It was a lot easier than I expected to get certain things done... maybe because I had been well prepared by this board! 🙂 I hope everything continues to go smoothly for you!

The only way you're getting the 'Skins is with a DirecTV setup with the NFL Sunday Ticket. It's standard definition, not HD so I would only do it if you plan to supplement and not replace Dish. The good news is I think the installation is still free and the Sunday Ticket here is something like $129 for the season and maybe pro-rated if you're lucky since you will have missed half the season. You could get their cheapest package (under $30/month I think) and the Sunday Ticket and be all set. I do think you have to sign a 2-year agreement with early cancellation penalty though.

Good luck and welcome to the island!

By the way, for networking/computer devices you will find much better supply at OfficeMax than KMart.

Choice is easy to install but there is no way you are getting 2mbit. Go to www.speedtest.net and run a test (to a server in Miami, they are closest "network-wise").

Agreed, but I have found the same tests to hold true everywhere I have traveled and lived. False advertisement is common in the internet biz apparently. Kind of reminds me of cell phone companies in the states always competing to have the next best phone, and the highest broadband speed.

Actually I get around 2.2 - 2.4 mps with my Choice setup. I had signed up for the 5 mps service but downgraded to the 3 based on my signal strength. Of course, at times I lose the connection or it is slow for no known reason...
