I am possibly about to take a job at the airport in St. Thomas. I need to start looking for an apartment and have had no luck through internet access. Is there an internet site for the "island trader" (name may be wrong)? I was also wondering if there are areas that are more residential or cheaper than others, such as more people reside in the eastern part and is more affordable. apartments near the airport? i am 22 years old and college grad in criminal justice. Are there alot of people my age there? anyone my age and had a previous evperience in this please reply. I will probably have a take home pay of about 550 a week. I am not even sure if i could live on this. However i dont require any luxuries. How are the roads there could i take a motorcycle there? or is that frowned upon? is travel by bicycle reasonable? Well any insight would be helpful. or tell me your experience.
No insight,
bill

Bill: It actually is the opposite- the east end is popular (and has amenities) so is more expensive than the west. The Fortuna area has great deals and also the north side. There is no online Island Trader. Have you checked out the online newspapers- onepaper.com and virginislandsdailynews.com? You probably won't see rentals there, but you'll get an idea of what is going on.It is still recommended that you stay in a guest house or other temporary housing while you figure out what you want- Villa Fairview comes to mind. You are going to want to see the place before you rent it. There are people who travel by motorcycle. The west end has lots of UVI students so might be just right for you!
