I am 24 and my boyfriend and I are interested in moving to the beautiful island of St. John, I love the relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and beautiful scenery. I will have a degree in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa and am interested in pursuing a career in any related field especially media production such as television or radio (curious to know more about this industry in the islands). I have also worked in the restaurant/service industry for over 3 years, and love to write (hence the drawn out postings). I like to chill out and have a geat time, and I consider meeting people to be the spice of life. We'll be moving in August,2004 and are looking for some people to build up a network of friends and contacts.
Adios,
Shalea

P.S. Kudzu, THANK YOU for the info about TV2, I will definitely look into it.

Hello Shalea,

I would say look in the yellow pages for radio stations - http://www.viphonebook.com
There are a few with web sites - visit them:
www.wsta.com
www.wvwi.net

TV Stations try TV2 as suggested but also look at the public television station visit them at
http://www.wtjx.org/

If you have experience writing you could look into the Daily News.

Restaurant and service you can look into if the Communications field doesn't work out.

i love st john too, but it's just too darn expensive. unless u have deep pockets, i wouldn't recommend moving there. i chose st croix because of it's relaxed environment. in the 3 years i've been here, i haven't had any problems and have been one of the few fortunate ones. i've seen many people come and go with my time here. i try to stay optimistic for people who move here because i've had such a great experience, but i know there more people who come here and turn around to go back. it's paradise, but it's not for everyone. it's a VERY different way of life. good luck.
