Hello Board,

I can't tell you how excited I am to be joining all of you in the Virgin Islands in January. I am moving from chilly Buffalo, NY and I am looking forward to the beautiful weather. I am moving with my girlfriend and we will both be looking to work. We are both 26 year old Urban Planners with a Masters Degrees and 3 years experience working on issues of low-income housing and neighborhood development. We also have training and experince in planning for development. Can anyone lead us to job possibilities in this feild in STX? We will be coming with $9K-10K and will be staying with friends for a few months, so we should be ok for a while, but we would like to find jobs so that we can support ourselves in paradise!

We are willing to get service sector jobs for a while and do volunteer work with community groups and agencies if necessary. Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and we will see you soon!

Christian

Hello Christian,

Welcome to the board. Have your friends keep an ear out for jobs that fit your qualifications; a lot is done by networking here. Also you might check the yellow pages for firms and call them. http://www.viphonebook.com. Once on island you could look into government jobs - Dept. of Planning and Natural Resources maybe. Just brainstorming here.

Anyone else have suggestions for where Urban Planners would find work on St. Croix.

Thanks Alix and Islander,

The Job Bank Lead was great and as soon as our friends get to the island for they will be keeping their ears to the ground! Less than six months now and we are super excited!

Thanks,

Christian
