Hello Friends and locals of St.Croix,

We visited the island in Dec/Jan 2006. We fell in love with the island and the people we met. Stevie and Matt Spencer have become our dearest friends.

Since then, we have been trying to make a plan to relocate there permantly. We are a professional couple with no children, but 2 dogs.

In our process of deciding this...we have so many questions.

1. What do we ship and what do we leave behind? Furniture, cars etc.
2. How is the job market? I am a CertifiedPilates Instructor, Master Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer. My boyfriend is a professional sailor and general contractor...can we get work quickly?
3. How is the medical care - is health insurance expensive? Can you give me a annual $ amt.?
4. What else????

Please fill us up with information and advice!

Cheers,
Cameron

Hi, I am planning on making the move to STX as well. information has been hard to come by. I did purchase the settler's hand book which I fond helpful but I am still in dire need of more info. The book does discuss health care and facilities on STX and STT. From what I hear, the islands have a great deal of physician to choose from. Please let me know if you find out any good information.

I too am debating on whether bringing my car or to by a reasonable one once I get there. I have spoken to a few people who have all advised me that finding a job is unrealistic to do unless you are on the island.

All Temp Services is a Temp agency that I hear does some of the hiring for companies on the island. I was interested to see you are in the physical fitness industry, although I am not certified I have playing sports and training my whole life and look to seek employment in the fitness industry as well. I do know there is one large fitness center on STX (can't remember the name) and I think there is a Gold's on STT.

Well any information is helpful.
