I was considering a move and saw the crime threads? I live just outside of Boston and I know where to avoid to stay safe. Is the crime similar to a big city or just over blown? Also I wanted to bring my car, I have an Audi. Will I have a difficult time finding someone to repair it? Thanks!

Hello Scott,

The same like in Boston where you have learned the areas to avoid is likewise in the islands. However the amount and severity of crime I don't feel is comparable to big cities in the states. (Big cities having a bigger problem....) A lot of crime in the VI is domestic (abuse of spouses, children....) and drug related killings. They are problems, however not rampant. The crime in the VI is often overblown because the islands are considered paradise and they are small so it is assumed that everything should be perfect... and the number of times you hear about crime in reference to the size of the islands makes things seem a bit crazy.
