I know talk is cheap. But moving to the island of St Croix we are. The sooner the better, more than likely early summer.

The Bars name will be "PARADICE IN BLUE". Has anyone seen this name used on island before ?

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all . Since we have no family on or near the island,I have decided we will be open for friends next year during the Holidays. If the employees I have want off, they can have it off. I will cook it all myself. To those of you who may be looking for a job in the restaurant / bar business, please keep me in mind. I will not be another drunk bar owner. Been there, done that.

Is Paradice a play on words or a typo?

i hope that you have done your homework. good luck. You can check the registered name use by having your attorney do a search of names.

Hey Chock, sometimes to many here grammar & spelling trump content, trust me, content is more important(any fool can use a grammar/spelling checker).
Are you looking for a local trademark?
If so, submit your trade name to the Lieutenants governors office, they will do a search.
If no one has that trade name, you can register it($35, last I did one).

It was a reasonable question, and I've never corrected anyone's spelling or grammer, although sorely tempted, at times!;)

Paradice indicates to me that there is a different theme at play. That was my reason for asking.

Like betting?
I see, that IS allowed here!

Or, perhaps he made a mistake?

Heck, if your going to deal in vices, you may as well cover the bases!
Although, I can see the enormous cash flow, I can also see the enormous problems!

Marcusruffin. We will have to talk later I am not there yet. It is simply something for you to keep in mind.

As for the rest of you with questions about gambling, spelling and grammar. Well I am not the best spelling person in the world,I do love my spell and grammar check.

As for gambling at my club,I think not . PARADICE is simply a play on words. I could correctly spell it PARADISE,but there seems to be to many people on this board who think I can not deliver what I say. I think that those of you who think this, do not know me yet. I figure if enough people stack the deck against me from the start,it is a long shot gamble. Hence the name.

I have pretty much resided myself to the fact that it will not be,all fun in the sun and I will be busting my ass to pull it off. I understand competition is fierce on island, well all I can say to that is,Say what you mean and mean what you say. I offer integrity and maybe a little different way of doing things.

Thanks for the advice Dun,I will do that.

Chockman,

I am afraid spelled that way I would assume it was a gaming facility and as a middle aged white woman here for 15 years (next week) would not even stop in the first time. Of course, I am probably not your target market.

Pamela. I want all of you. I will need a core group of people for sustainment. I can listen to advice. Make some name suggestions folks. Maybe I will go with PARADISE instead of PARADICE.You all, bring up some good points. We ended up in Mexico last year,so it has been about 2 years since we were on island, besides DIVI . How many gaming facilities are on island ?

I thought the law stated casinos had to be part of a hotel complex.

East Ender,

I was thinking more of those places that have the video gaming terminals and that is pretty much all it is. The food is an afterthought.

Someone can correct me, but I don't think VLTs are allowed on St Croix, are they??

And Pamela, I don't go into the VLT parlors either. (td)

You are correct. Because we have a real casino, no VLTs are allowed.

Ah, I am on STT and they are EVERYWHERE. Many, if not most, bars have them. And there are many places which are basically just the terminals with a bar as an afterthought.

Pamela: As you will recall, when casinos were first up for a vote, they were turned down because St Thomians voted NO. Then St Croix said, "Let us vote separately!" and they voted YES. So St Croix was "allowed" to have casinos but they had to be attached to a hotel. Several years later, the legislature slipped through a bill allowing VLTs, but only for St Thomas and St John. If I am not mistaken, they have exactly one hotel/casino on St Croix and about a zillion VLT outlets on St Thomas and St John. The entire VI lost out. (td)

Where is the "PTHHHH!" emoticon when you need it? Maybe this: 😛

I remember reading a article regarding the revenue of those VLTs I remember the government cut to be quite lucrative(although the gov was looking for more).
Questions:
How does the government tally the income, what IS the government`s take, & how does the government use this income for the territory?

No one knows. Just last year the govt had no idea how many terminals existed and how much $ they were supposed to recieve.

It seems the gaming company wrote a brilliant contract.
