I am planning to move to STX within the next year and everything I have read says that finding an apartment/condo for rent that allows dogs is almost impossible. Anyone have any tips on finding a dog friendly place?

Thanks y'all!

Jen

Finding a rental condo that accepts pets on STX is difficult. Most condo complexes don't allow pets and the ones that do accept them, only for owners, (not renters) and usually 1 pet under 25#'s. A private apartment on someone's property might be possible if the owners/landlords will accept your pet. Your best bet would be to contact a local STX realtor to assist with your search.

Also be aware that if dog isn't small enough to fly in cabin with you and must fly cargo, airlines don't fly animals in cargo due to heat restrictions during summer - fall months and AIRBUS planes don't take them at all if you have a connecting flight on an AIRBUS, so make sure you don't and have all information regarding traveling with your dog, beforehand.
Good luck.

An option, if you bring your pet with you, would be to board him/her while securing a pet friendly rental. Several Vets offer boarding.
There are 3 rentals on this property and we all have pets. One of my neighbors came, stayed at an AB&B while searching rental areas, then her father flew down months later after heat restrictions were no longer a factor and brought their dog.
Pet friendly rentals are available here on STX. I've lived in 4 in the past 5 years. Still can't decide what area I want to settle though. Each area and the people are so different.
