Hello all,

I am a 32 year old woman moving down to St. Thomas in November. I am interested in meeting people who are moving down around the same time. I will be moving alone and I would love to meet some new friends to share in this excitement. If anyone is going down at or around the same time and is interested in meeting new friends, I would love to meet you.

I am currently living in New York City. I work in the jewelry industry. I love to travel, I am very sociable, and adore fun.

Shawn

I live in Brooklyn too! I am so happy to hear from you!

Are you going down for a premove trip? Do you have an apartment? What do you plan on doing when you get down there?

I am so excited I can hardly wait.

No premove trip for me. I was down in STX for carnival and two weeks ago in STT for the weekend. I love it. I pretty much know my way around (even the rum lady at the airport knows me) and made some contacts for temporary housing until I get settled. I don't have a job lined up but I'm hoping I can find something before my savings runs out. Have you ever been to the Virgins? What neighborhood are you from in Brooklyn?

I live in Prospect Heights. How about you?

I went down last Sept for the first time to see if I was interested in moving down. I am waiting until my apt. lease is up end of Sept to move. Did you see any of the temporary housing firsthand? I spoke to Ronnie, who seemed like a very nice guy at Harbor villas or something. I have the informatin at home. I think I will start there. I don't have a job either, bettin' on a hope and a prayer! I will have some savings too and hope it lasts. What else can you do?

Do you know what type of job you are looking for? Do you know anyone down there? (the rum lady sounds like a good start.)

Shawn,
As you may have figured out during your trip here last Sept., you will have NO trouble finding a job. All facets of the jewelry business are represented here, so whatever skills you have, they should be transferable.

BTW, Ronnie is a very nice guy and VERY knowledgeable about STT. A very good resource in my opinion.

Thanks for the advice regarding my job. It is a relief to hear that I will be employable! Is there a resource where I can find jobs in the jewelry industry? Or is the best way to contact each company individually? Does anyone know an average income from selling jewelry at one of the larger retailers? Will I have to wait until Dec to find a job?

I agree, Ronnie seems like a very nice guy with very good intentions. We spoke for about a half an hour about moving down. He answered my questions and made me feel more comfortable about the move.

Thanks in advance to any information anyone may be able to provide.

How can I speak with Ronnie? I've read great things about him. I need to know where I should stay for about 3 days when I come for a short visit.
