Dried chiles, Valentina hot sauce, oatmeal sandwich cookies (individually wrapped) from the bakery near my mother's house, and Cheerwine, a locally made soda. And teabags, because they cost a fortune here! Luckily, my mother is the type who will worry about me until the day I die, so she sends care packages fairly often.

I've been in the states the past two weeks and tomorrow am bringing back Dogswell dried organic chicken strips in a variety of flavors for my dogs. They love these treats and I can never find them in St. Croix! Especially in the giant bags!

For sure Dunkin Donuts coffee, unflavored. We can find it at Fruit Bowl, sometimes, but it is crazy expensive! And of course they don't ship here...argh

There are a few other things that my brother brings down (from Big Lots)

Long handled grill cleaners ($1.00 each !)
Flannel backed tablecloths (he gets them for $1.50 or $2.00)

But other than that, you are right Juanita, it's mostly food !

And when we go back to the states, one of our biggest pleasures is going to all of our favorite chain restaurants or a couple of local hometown places.

Good Spirits on StX's east end sells bags of dunkin donuts coffee.

I vote for a load of stateside asphalt and road workers.

Pretty sure cherly96s is on St. Thomas.

We can find DD coffee in a lot of places on St. Croix. It is expensive, and it can be hard to find just the regular flavor. Lots of cinnamon, hazelnut, etc., but I like just coffee....I did try Folger's chocolate coffee. It's great for dessert, with no calories!:-)

This may be silly, but...

I talked to my grandma earlier. She's sending haircolor, since my hair came out bright TV-dinosaur purple last time, and she's not amused. 😉 "How about medium auburn--does that sound like you?" "Yes, Grandma, that's fine."

Stephyih, I color my own hair and it is medium auburn. I get my colors from Jackies Beauty supply across from Sunny Isle. They sell all kinds of colors.

I remember a few years back a restaurant on St. Thomas (don't remember the name, but it was on the water, out by Cabrita Point, something ...Jungle?...) Anyway..they made a run over to PR, and brought back Taco Bell, by special order. It wasn't quite as good as hot out of the kitchen, but it was still great. They must have lost money because they never did it again. Actually went out of business a while later.

Marlene,
Try the beauty store next to Plaza East I think it is called Diamond Beauty. They have more selections and sell professional color and products. I like the service there. I went to Jackie's one time but they didn't seem to want to wait on me, so I left.

margaritagirl, I went to the Diamond Beauty but my color is done with 4 different Clairol colors. They don't have the selection as Jackies. I walk in and out to get my stuff and don't like it when the girls come up and ask me what I need. I know what I want.

We bought our DD coffee at Plaza West and it was a 2.5 lbs bag!
It's lasted a good long time.

I've gotten mine from Jackie's and from Diamond, but I can't find anywhere that sells the exact color I used to use--Garnier 100% Color in Mahogany Red Brown. And the ones that do sell boxed hair color kits charge a fortune! I was used to getting coupons in the newspaper (yeah, I know, not happening here) that would take the hair color down to $4-6 for the whole kit.

Also, the purple was intentional, as was the pink last month. She's sending me the auburn because she doesn't like it. 🙂
