This is a random question, but is there any US navy presence in the USVI or BVI, or Puerto Rico? Someone told me there is, but I cant find anything online.

thanks...

The Navy used to have a base at Roosevelt Roads in Puerto Rico, but it was closed. There are no active military facilities in PR or the USVI except National Guard or Reserve units.

I thought there was some sort of base (navy? air force?) on Vieques Island off the coast of Puerto Rico.

If there is no military presence, why is there a PX?
I thought there was some sort of naval complex on the west end nort of Fredricksted, along the shore line road, north of the rain forrest road.

There are Air Force and Army National Guard forces stationed on STX. There are also recruiting stations for all categories of the military. The Coast Guard has a large base on Puerto Rico, and the Air Force has an active duty and National Guard base there, as well. STX does have a PX and military medical facilities available and that makes it a desirable place for military retirees to consider making their home.

I messed up my question anyways, it was the air force i was thinking of, and not the navy. But it sounds like there are some options anyways... thanks so much guys!

karrieb: Remember when everyone was protesting because they were using Vieques for bombing practice? (The base was Roosevelt Roads as Ric said) Well, the Navy said, "Fine, adios, you all!" and closed up shop. The Puerto Ricans are now bemoaning the loss of millions of dollars of revenue.
