Not sure why you don't want to give business to the resorts...they tend to have the traffic to offer complete spa services. You could try: Body Garden in Tillett or Grapevine Spa at Elysian (just because it is at a resort doesn't mean it's owned by the resort.)

Great personal service. Quiet. Ample parking. Owned by transplants from the states, living on island for many years. Is that considered local?

If anyone is looking on St. Croix, I highly recommend Tropical Therapy for facials. They also do massage, reflexology, etc., but I've only had the facial, from Deb. It's great.

Your post caught my eye…I’ve been lurking on this board to learn more about the USVI. My husband lived there about 15 years ago (before we met and married) and has always wanted to move back. I’ve never been there but am open to the adventure. I’m an Esthetician and have had my own biz for over 15 years and I’m good at what I do. I’m wondering about the opportunities for someone who would rather not work at a resort? I realize it takes a long time to build a clientele in any new place so opening my own studio would probably not be possible. Was wondering about opportunities in privately owned spas/salons? He prefers STX over STT, can anyone tell me about the opportunities there?
