Need Shipping Company ASAP = HELP

Friends:

I have made the relocation, got a job, got a place and things are going well on Island. Met lots of great folks. One major problem.

The shipping company I talked to about moving my personal effects has blown the situation out of the water. I have my effects boxed up, sealed up, labeled, beds and dressers shrink wrapped etc as told to do by shipping company. All of it sitting in a garage. Mover shows up and says the stuff has to be on pallets. Then next mover says it has to be crated, then told it has to be unboxed and weighed.

Does anybody know a decent, reliable and honest shipping company that can get my stuff from Illinois to STT asap.

Thanks

Andre Rivera - Top of the Line Transport (866) 729-7960

He may not be able to do it but he would know who will.

Call Tropical in STT. Then work backwards as they may have a list of overland shoppers you can use. All stuff to STT comes out of Miami.

I'm not on stt but you might try calling Caribtrans in Miami. They say they ship from anywhere, and they have terminals in various states. they are now part of Tropical, but still have their own operation..and are pretty big. One of our contractor-company-tenants used them for all the stuff on their multi-million dollar project at Hovensa...

Adding on what billd said, try calling the VI moving company you'll be using, and get their recommendation for a mover in your area. That worked for our move from NJ to STX. We contacted several moving companies in NJ, all of which had various restrictions or excuses, and we finally called our move expeditor on STX (Lee Fleming, and I don't know where he is now) who recommended a mover who was perfect.

Thanks everyone.

I have a call into Tropical and Fleming. Found a local mover - Brooks - who has been really helpful.

I hope to have the stuff picked up Tuesday, so I can relax a little.

What are they charging if you don't mind me asking. Hoping to move in a few years and was trying to figure out some finances.
