Good Day to everyone!

I am new to this board and will be new to the USVI. I've been following the board for a few days now and researching the message boards and other information because I will be relocating from the mainland US to STT so, I figured I'd join (GREAT site by the way). I have a friend that offered me a job and place to stay and wants me to come join him. I just have a couple questions about life on the islands.
How's it really like living in St. Thomas? What is your day to day lifestyle (I'm sure everyone is a little different, but just looking for a general basis)?, How's the nightlife? Where do locals hangout? Would it be hard to meet single women and are there any single women that are serious about relationships on the island or is it all just mostly fun and games? How's the crime (I've read about some horror stories so, again just trying to get a general idea)?, Are there any cell phone providers (once I arrive I'd like to get a cell phone)?, Is everyone friendly for the most part?
I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions, but again I'm just trying to get a general idea of STT. Any advice, tips, info is appreciated!
I've been going to the tropics and all over the Caribbean for years and I love it. I came across this opportunity to live in STT full time so, I think I'm going to take it. STT would be my new home. Living in the Caribbean is a life long dream of mine and now it is finally going to happen (much sooner than I expected) so, I am extremely excited! Just so you know I am a 31 yr. old male from the mainland US. Sorry this was so long and I'm sure you get questions like this everyday (I apologize), but I'm excited and just wanting a little information. I'm very familiar with island talk and time so, thanks for taking the time to read and/or respond... Good Morning, Day, Evening whenever you read this!

Thanks again!!!

Welcome to the fun house...

I am going to leave the "single guy" questions to Marty. Competition, Marty! 😉

Lifestyles here range from the ladies-who-lunch to folks with 4 jobs trying to make ends meet to ne'er-do-wells. Maybe your friend would be a good one to quiz about that one. He would understand you and how your lifestyle would "fit in."

Cell phone providers: AT&T or Sprint.

I think we are very friendly, but you will find people are rather reserved to newcomers.

I recommend reading the local news on-line: Virgin Islands Daily News and the Source.

We LOVE answering questions!:D

LOL... Thank You East Ender! No, I'm not trying to be a competitor (well, not yet... LOL)... just curious as to how the single life was. I was wondering why no one was responding to my post.... LOL! J/K!

Another question I have thought of... What comes on TV in STT? Same thing as the mainland or totally different? Just wondering (I'll prob. be having too much fun to worry about tv) lol!

Thanks for answering my previous questions East Ender!

Good Day

Well, right now I am watching the winter Olympics...it is just an hour later than the east coast, so I will be sleep deprived come morning. We have the same channels as Big America on our TV. One thing on TV is that the ads designed for Puerto Rico are in Spanish. Annoying or amusing...you can be the judge.

Okay... that sounds good! I'm a huge hockey fan so I hope I can watch my hockey!!! Do you get channels like Versus, ESPN, etc.? I guess worst case scenario is I would have to get NHL Center Ice on my computer to follow my favorite team.
Yes, I've been watching the Olympics as well. GO USA HOCKEY!!!

I go to Mexico a lot so I'm use to the Spanish... LOL! I can speak it fairly well!

Thanks East Ender for all your help so far!
