Newspapers on St. Croix

I wondered about these questions before I came to STX. Now that I've been here for a couple of weeks, I'm still a little perplexed. Please correct my understanding regarding newspapers:

* Newspapers don't get delivered to your door, right? You have to go to the store and pick one up, right?

*The Daily News could be described as STT centric, right? It's a morning paper but the on-line edition gets updated around 5 PM, right?

*The Crucian Trader is published every Thursday and has a print and on-line edition, right? I haven't seen it at any of the stores. Does it "sell out" quickly?

*The Avis is ONLY available in print, right? The Sunday/ Monday edition are combined.

*The St. Croix Source doesn't have an on-line edition, right? And it gets updated throughout the day, right?

*Are there any other worthy newspapers out there that I should seek out for politics, ads, entertainment, etc?

I would add The Daily News doesn't print on Sunday. It's a Sat./Sun combination.

I don't know, but I imagine that 5 pm on-line update is the morning paper for that day, not "new" news.

The Crucian Trader is free. It is usually out on Wednesday, and most businesses have it. I've never had any problem finding one. Where are you looking? I usually get mine at Gallows Bay Hardware, because I'm in there a LOT.

You said the STX Source doesn't have an on line edition. But, I'm pretty sure you meant it IS online only, which is correct.

The Island Trader is the STT version of the Crucian Trader, it's also free, comes out on Thursday, but it's larger and includes more info about STX than the CT does about STT.

Thanks Juanita. You're right--I meant the Source is only available on-line. I've haven't seen the Trader at the gas stations or restaurants. But maybe I just need to look harder or ASK.

It seems the home improvement store by Sunny Isle couldn't make the right key (big place with an orange sign). So I went to Gallows. The guy there made the key said the other place wasn't a hardware store with a tone of indignation in his voice. I thought it was kind of funny..

That was a little unsportsman-like of him, huh? I really do like Gallows Bay a lot better than Caribe Do It Center (the orange place), but like with most shopping on island, you need them all. We shop at both and also Princess Hardware, which is the best place to have keys made. Several more smaller hardware stores around. You'll make it to all of them, eventually!

I had some keys made at the little trailer near Cost-U-Less. Very friendly and cheap! This, after visiting every other hardware store who didn't have the right key.
