Hello Sidnie...I hope you are reading. I was hoping you could give me some insight on the nursing conditions and such in STX and STT... I am an experienced Peds RN looking at assignments on the US VI. My family would come with me and we would try to stay 6mo.-12mo. I do have to consider how to school our 5 and 10 year old.
Looking into private or home schooling options........I also want to know more about The Ocean Terrace Apartments on STX and Pepper Tree Terrace Apartments..........These are the housing the company is suggesting.
Any info or words to guide are much appreciated................
Thank you,
'

hi fam5

I don't know anything about the nursing conditions in the VI but I live on STX at Ocean Terrace Condos so can help you with that....Ocean Terrace is a relatively large complex, located mid-island, close to shopping and transportation. There are 1br 1ba ($1300/mo) and 2br 2ba ($1600/mo) units for rent. Utilities are extra. The complex is well maintained and there is a small swimming pool, fitness center, tennis + basketball court on the premises. There is a security gate and a large parking lot. Rentals are either for 6 mo or a year. Peppertree Terrace is located mid island, very close (as in across the street!) from the hospital. This unit is a collection of trailers, so its kind of like an upscale trailer park. I think there is a pool on the premises. I don't know what the rent is for these units and I don't know how well they are maintained. Other options for housing are Long Reef Condos, Bay Garden Condos, and Questa Verde Condos. Any realtor can help you with these. Good luck!

Nursing conditions on STT are pretty good. Be careful if you sign with a travel co. because you tend to get pulled around the hospital and you kinda get crappy shifts, etc. (just like if you are with a travel co. in the states). Although travel co. offer great packages, transportation $, housing, etc you have to decide whether or not the benefits outweigh cons. The RLS hopsital has a website where you can see each of the facilities. STT has the main hospital. STJ has a clinic. STT also has the cancer center. http://www.rlshospital.org/ Hope this is of some help.
