Obtaining A PO Box on STX

I have searched the boards and I am sure it is on there somewhere but I was wondering what it takes to obtain a PO box. I was told you need a VI drivers license and if that is so...How do I obtain a VI drivers license and are they open on Saturdays at all? I will be on Island this weekend for a quick business trip but will be back May 15th full time. I have signed a lease for a house which has a physical address but no mailing address. I just wondered if it was possible to get a license and PO box or do whatever necessary on Saturday to facilitate this.

Thanks.

BCF

You don't need a VI license to get a PO Box. Don't know about post offices out east, but the Frederiksted branch is open Sat morning 9-12.

Kingshill is also open on Saturday morning. All you need is a physical address and ID.

You can also use the "general mail" address for 30 days if you don't get a po box set up right away.
The address is:

YOUR NAME
GENERAL DELIVERY
CHRISTIANSTED, VI 00820

and that goes to the Post office just west of C'sted on Rt 75

At the Gallows Bay post office, I needed a driver's license and major credit card (for ID), along with a signed lease showing my physical address on island.

Thanks! I hadn't even thought to ask these questions, but setting up a PO box is near the top of my "to do when I get there" list." Didn't know anything about general delivery... huge tip for those of us who might have to ship a few things in addition to our luggage!

You can also get one at Mailboxes and More in Sunny Isle. Not the PO, but, I think, much better in terms of service. And you don't need to be a resident of the island--just need to show your driver's license to prove you are who you are.

Mailboxes and More is in that tiny strips mall behind the Gas for Less gas station. No lines....most of the time and nice people!

There's often a waiting list for PO Boxes.
