my girlfriend and i are in christiainsted and we need a reliable car, something cheap, to get to the market and things like that. any ideas?

You might try checking the bulletin board located at the entrance to Schooner Bay Market. Often people post items for sale. Otherwise, look in the classified ads in the Avis and start calling. Just be very careful that the person selling the vehicle has a clear title. Word of mouth is the other option. Talk to everyone you meet, whether it be in a restaurant, bar, store, etc.

I would ask the man at MPH auto repair. He's at Five Corners. I don't think he sells cars, just repairs them. He might be able to steer you to a decent one. If you find one on your own, I would suggest that you have him take a look at it.
Two of my friends bought a Jeep for around $5K, and had nothing but trouble woth it. They also bought a old Chevy for a few hundres bucks, and have had great luck. Not knocking Jeep products, just illistrating how you can't tell just from price.
