Think that med is only for a certain age group.
Can't remember if Oxitec was manufacturer as read about it a while back. Can't remember if it's suitable for infants but not for anyone over age 55.

The article I read didn't say why. I was curious about the age cut off.

Gene manipulation is the future of medicine. Oxitec plays with mosquito genome only. Seems clever and safe. Unless they mutate into killer giant mosquito. 🙂

The other long-term option can be found here:

http://www.eliminatedengue.com

This one is not considered GMO and has less regulatory issues. It has been supported by Gates Foundation. Either of these groups would be interested in working with USVI. Unfortunately, it takes quite a bit of funding to get started. A small lab and staff is needed.

Each of these groups have a few large ongoing projects. Hopefully these solutions will prove effective and provide motivation for others to follow suit.
