Ok, here is a question for everyone already living on STX. My German friends always are hoping I would go back into the culinary field. I guess my food actually does taste good lol.

So here is my question; I am a pretty good baker as well. What would people prefer a German Restaurant or a Pastry shop?

I have several ideas on how I will make a living on STX. One is more related to the Tourist industry. But I also want to see what the residence of STX would like or need.

Iris, (who has to many talents, just does not know which one will pay the bills lol)

hi Iris
ohhh, I would love a good pastry shop! Would much prefer that over a German restaurant, but that's just me I don't like German food too much (I'm a vegetarian)

Pretty sure there is a German restaurant on STT. Might want to check out how popular the place is. I know we all would love more pastries on STX:)

Let's see.......

Schnitzel Sandwich mit mayo
Curry Wurst with ketchup and curry powder
Pig's shank but from the broiler not boiled (the hard skin is better than the meat.
Rumpsteak mit pomme frites
Sauerbraten mit klose
Handkase mit musik
Ringwuerst mit kartoffel salat

And my mouth just keeps on watering!!!!

Desserts like napoleons are good for a nice Sunday coffee.

You slander the entire German eating population by offering up "German vegetarian" dishes. IT DOESN'T REALLY EXIST.

Now if you could do something like any or all of the above on any island anywhere, I will come down and work for you food only.

Lol, working for food hmmmm. I might take you up on it. I was a 5 star chef in my old days. Even if the restaurant business will not be in my future I am planing some grant parties. In general German food is very basic and I should be able to make some German dishes. My specialty is Reinisher Sauerbraten with Spaetzle and red cabbage. Now someone would have to check if they carry red cabbage in the stores lol.

So what kind of skills do you have promoguy lol

What St. Croix really needs is a great Mexican and/or Thai restaurant! Heck, I'd even take a Taco Bell.

German cuisine probably would be slow to catch on with the locals, though. It's quite different from their usual diet. Everybody loves a good pastry. High quality and variety breads are in short supply and would be popular.

Christiansted has quite a few restaurants and so does Fredriksted, but there is very little to eat in the Sunny Isle area considering the volume of potential customers passing by. Most of what is there closes by 8 PM most nights and some are not open on Sundays at all. A good restaurant open during the dinner hours would be very welcome. You might also pick up some extra customers leaving the theater who would enjoy a late dinner or your pastries for dessert.

We would be a customer for a good mexican food restraunt. The one in Christiansted isn't too bad, but it's an outside venue.

Terry, you should open a Mexican food restaurant! I could totally see that.
