I read the previous thread about pellet guns. I was looking for one as a gift. Is it legal? Did anyone find out for sure? Can they even ship here? I considered mailing it back after the holidays but didn't know if it was against postal regulations. Also considered packing in my luggage. But don't want to get arrested in customs when I return. Any info would be great.

Yes to all. As recently as last year it was legal to own a pellet gun and to ship it through the USPS.

Does anyone know if you can ship it to your home since it is considered legal?

On something like this I would err on the side of caution and contact USPS directly. What may be a legal shipment within the contiguous states may not apply here and what may have been legal a year ago may not be legal now.

Well, it might be a good idea to double-check. I researched this with a friend who is a FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee) on St. Croix who is in charge of certifying firearms purchases so he knows the regs better than just about anyone, police included. Air rifles are popular among competitive shooters for their efficiency and economy, and he gets asked this all the time. He reassured me that it is legal both to own one and to have it shipped to you via usps.
