Does anyone know of any pet friendly hotels or B&B's on the island? We will need a temporary place to stay (pet friendly) in August while we view some houses before signing the lease. Any assistance is appreciated! THANKS!

I believe that Sand Castle on the Beach ( http://www.sandcastleonthebeach.com/) is pet friendly. If memory serves, friends of mine stayed there with their beagle while awaiting closing on the home they purchased. It is alternative lifestyle, but straight folks go there too.

It's also possible that my memory has failed me, in which case my friends stayed at Cottages by the Sea (nearby to Sand Castle). That website is http://www.caribbeancottages.com/. It was definitely one or the other 🙂

My adult son and I will be relocating to St. Croix in the summer season of 2006 with our 12 pound Shih Tsu dog. We will need a place to stay while we look for a house to rent. Any suggestions would be welcome.

SandCastle on the Beach ROCKS when it comes to pets. They were our home for three weeks between when we arrived on island and closed on our house, and the staff was wonderful with our three cats -- including coming back after their shifts to pet and play with the kitties. SandCastle also offers suites with fully equipped kitchen, which allows you to save some cash by eating meals in house. We absolutely love them.

The next option is to rent a villa or vacation home, but this can be costly (anywhere between $1200 - $3000 week, depending on the property and the season). All of these places are gorgeous, beautifully maintained, have fully equipped kitchens, private pools -- some even have a jacuzzi. I have a list of pet friendly villas for rent that I developed when we had to move out of our house during renovations -- private message me if you'd like me to pass on contact info for some of our favorites.
