So I'm really hoping to come down and work for the winter, and I was wondering if I have trouble finding a place to live, if there is any place to pitch a tent for free, or a cheap campgrounds, cause I have no problem with living in a tent if I'm in paradise.
Thanks
Steve.

The only legal place to do so is Cinnamon Bay Campground. Inexpensive but not free.

Steve,

Cinnamon limits camping to 14 days December through April and 30 days May through November.

Hey Steve,
When I moved down to St Croix I lived in a tent for ten days until I found a condo. I stayed at Mount Victory campground. Its an eco campground and rated very well in popular magazines. It is on the west side in the rain forest. They have showers (solar heated) and other facilities. Bruce and Matilda are the owners and a real nice people. They assisted me well during my transition. His info can be found on the gotostcroix site. Good luck.

You may also get lucky and meet someone soon after you arrive who would be willing to let you camp in their yard or on property they own. Just make sure you have worked out arrangements for sanitation and water!
