Is any one elses's power out? We heard a big POP during the night and the power here at Betsy's Jewel, (top of the hill between MonBijou and LaValle, feeder #6) was gone. Had to fire up the generator this morning.

How is everyone else? Roads?

Linda, the same thing with us. We heard a loud boom and our power went out but it was only us and one other neighbor. Hubby called Wapa and they came out in an hour or so. We had to flag them down and show them which power poles to work on. We fell asleep before they were finished so we don't know what time the power came back on.

We have no cell phone service. ATT. Lost the house phone last night but we have a dial tone this morning.

It is raining hard here in Cotton Valley with occasional large wind gusts. The roads are horrible.

We live in Cane Bay, are on feeder 6, but we never lost power in spite of the hefty gusts of wind/rain that pummelled the house off and on for about an hour starting around 10:15pm. The gusts of wind/rain felt like they could have been in the 50mph+ range. So the loud pop heard in Betsy's was most likely a transformer.

No problem here in Golden Rock/Orange Grove except a short outage of some cable channels.

Linda...Transformers usually make loud popping sounds when they blow. Be sure to call WAPA to report it as it may not be affecting many, if any, of your neighbors.

We lost power @ 7:30 last night and it's never come back on STT. Right now the weather is calm, with no wind or rain.

Nix the calm part. The sky just opened up and we are being pounded with wind and rain!

Water, rocks and LOGS were floating down Paradise Road this morning at 5 am.
Power stayed on, surprisingly.
Quite an incredible downpour.

Power on, Dishnetwork on, ATT on, Internet on, Landslide in the yard. One big tree down.

Pamela, If DirecTV is down it's your dish. The wind might have mis-aligned it.

I'm on DishNetwork and only lost signal once or twice from 6:20pm until turning off the TV at 10pm. It's amazing how strong the signal is w/my HD satillite dish because only some minor interruptions in signal the past few days. Ditch Direct (td) and switch to Dish (tu)!!

Out east STX no power from about 4PM to about 8 PM or so. No innovative cable, Dish TV OK, BBVI OK, I didn't ck the cable this AM. But wow, the wind was wicked, the gusts must have been 40 MPH and the tropical downpours were intense. It looks like more soon come.

Driving in to c'sted from out east I felt the roads are in really bad shape. If we get another day of heavy rain like this I really think some of them are going to be totally washed out. If you have a car I would be really careful driving anywhere so you don't flood out your engine. Coming in there was a huge dump truck stalled out around a blind curve. Very grateful I was only going 20.

Just drove down to LaVallee. Lots of debrie on the road. Branches, stones, and mud.
Raining hard again now.

DirecTVs signal is not lower than Dishnetwork. It's the way I've seen them being installed without the support arms they are supposed to be using. Recipe for an easily mis-aligned dish.

Yes, I'm sure it was the transformer at the edge of the property. WAPA called.

Got power back around 3:30 this afternoon. I was on my way home. I HAD to leave to get coffee / food / phone recharged...
To get out and to get home, I had to go this way, had to go that way, had to go around, then turn about. Phew !
So happy to have power back, and so happy to be Home !

There's no place like home, There's no place like home 🙂

WAPA came by around 5 pm and fixed the transformer and a line that was down. They worked for more than an hour in the pouring rain. Ric was kidding the 2 linemen about this is why they make the big bucks and the supervisor was cracking up. Of course he wasn't the one back in the bushes cutting out the old line!!

These guys are always pleasant and good to work with. I have a lot of respect for them. Hope they do make big bucks!

The 11 oclock news last night said STX was hit worse, and Thursday STT would get more than STX. I think there is just more land movement on STT because of new structures on hills/cliffs.
