Look into the King Christian or the Hotel Caravelle. You should be able to find something easily. Maybe even Hotel on the Cay.

Ask Hotel on the Cay, or anyone else for that matter, about specials. I just rented a room for my sons for 4 nights for $300, and the view is spectacular. It is just a jump from downtown on their own little ferry...tip the guy a little and he'll knock himself out for you. They aren't crowded right now - I think you would enjoy it. It has it's own beach - which King Christian and Hotel Caravelle don't, but they may be cheaper. Guess it depends on what you are looking for - but don't get distracted by the beach if this is truly a PMV. You need to be out looking at the island. A weekend isn't enough time to really get to know the things you need to know....talk to the folks on this board. Some can take island life, some can't. But take your tail "home" to the hotel when the night wears on - I don't mean to sound harsh, but you don't know where you are or what you're doing. We learned a hard lesson one night that way. Just be safe and smart until you get your feet on the ground...

St Croix is not "dangerous in general" or even dangerous in specific. It is much safer than NYC or any mid or large sized city in the states.

The people here are for the most part very nice. As with any place there is a small segment of the population that (usually due to drug use) are bad guys. They mostly threaten and are a problem to each other. Occasionally because of the small population and the small size of the island good citizens become involved. That is ususally because they are out late a night, when the "nightcrawlers" crawl.

This topic has been discussed often on this forum and if you search you will be both upset and reassured.

No, I absolutely feel safe...but mama used to say nothing good happens after midnight. 🙂 As with any town, until you know the nuances of the island, just don't get yourself in a bad spot. I've posted before on this, do a search. Keep your head up and eyes open, just like you would in NYC - and like I did in Russellville, Arkansas - and you will do FINE.

I have only been here a month, my husband 2 months - we love it and have met so many wonderful people. Funny, from one of my posts, someone recognized us in Rumrunners last weekend...you'd be surprised how small the island really is in some respects!
