It's not that easy Klangi...
Are you coming as door greeter or on a manager's salary? Big difference.

Got kids? Pets? How old are you?
Want a house or apt?

I would advise researching the multitude of threads on this subject then asking specifics.

But, in general, if you are working at K Mart east, you are going to want to stay close to it. There are lots of condos and home for rent in that area, lots in the Avis. Take the Sunday paper and go to HR at K mart. They can steer you in the right direction. My advice would be to find something for 3 or 6 months and rethink after you've been here for a while.

klangl...I hope you're going to be a new KMart manager in Sunny Isle. Please, please, please....try to impress on the employees to "SMILE" and treat us, the customers, nicer. They know we're a "captive audience", but really need to work on their "people skills". Also would like to see upon arrival at the store, shopping carts available to the customers. There's NEVER an empty cart to use. Makes shopping for alot of things difficult. I have spoken to previous managers repeatedly about this and they always just "shrug".

I was at Kmart yesterday; 2 lanes were open and very crowded; cashers were there but one was eating, two busy chatting and another doing her nails....

if the kids are in school you might want to consider private school. about 9-13 thousand a year per child

Keith,

As for long-term rental, that's what I've been doing at Ocean Terrace. Call Dale Muir, Manager, at 340-773-6901.

Keith,

I have rentals available, quick, easy drive to Kmart; about 3 miles. Please check out our website at http://www.virginislandsrentals.com . The availabilty page needs to be updated, so pay no attention to that. I'll try to get to it today.

Just a heads up about kmart's hiring policies, for what it's worth. We had a gentleman rent from us who had been "hired" for loss prevention. He never actually started work, just couldn't get together with the manager, they didn't follow up with him, etc., etc. All this, after they told him he had a job, and he relocated here. He found another job, so it worked out well for him, but just saying......

I have a two bedroom, two bath unit availble for October. It is furnished and includes Dish Satellite and wireless Internet free of charge. The rent varies according to length of the lease. Long term $1350. Electric and water are additional, but already on. We are small dog friendly!!

Our contact info is on the website, but you can email me at casita37@hotmail.com. Good luck to you, and let me know if we can help.

thanks,
we will be coming down on the 17th to look at housing. they are paying for the trip and the relocation and I have a written contract. What does the average utilities run a month? electric. water, phone, cable?

Utilities vary greatly with the user. For instance, we have had tenants run $80-$125, or less, per month in our larger units. Have had the exact same unit be $300-$400+. The high bill was when their employer was paying the bill, and the A/C was never turned off. Water at our place is .05 per gallon. A couple generally runs $50+/- per month. Basic landline phone is about $40 per month, and I think basic cable is cheap, like $20 or so, but to get a nice block of channels, it will be $60. Internet will run you $50 per month. A lot of rentals, like us, include the cable (in our case Dish Satellite) and Internet. Some even include the water, but rarely will you find electric included. Electric right now is running .37 per kwh. Ouch, but it has been higher in the past.

Have any of you ever heard of a water bill between 150.00 and 206.00 if water is .05 a gallon???????

That would be 3,000 gallons. For a family who is doing laundry and taking longish showers, I would say it's doable. Or else you have some kind of a leak.

You're asking us for help and someone here indicates that we could use your help in the management of KMart. Your response is "Not my problem". It sounds like Luckygirl has taken it up with "them". Yes you should fit right in,..... but be prepared to not fit in.

How hard would it have been to say something like, I'll see what I can do. ?? How about the loss prevention of the shopping carts? Maybe that's the job they have in mind for you. Collecting carts from the parking lot!!

Yes. Not often, but when we have Hovensa guys or some other crew where the company is paying the bill, we see bills that high or higher. We had a group of 4 in a 2 bedroom apt. run over $400 one month. They took the water saver shower heads off so it ran like a garden hose. 4 guys taking long showers didn't take long to use some serious water!

Are you talking about your bill, in your condo? Does that include sewar fees?

We also find that most of our tenants run their highest utility bills the first month they are here. It's like WOW when they get the bill and it's so much higher than they are used to. Then they start to conserve a bit more.
