Private schooling in St Croix

There are several of the private schools with good Grade Schools attached.
Country Day has an excellent grade school, I have heard good things about Free Will Baptist and A to Z is quite popular. You would have to look at the finances and visit each school to get a better idea of the fit for your son.
Public schooling at this point in time is not really an option on St Croix.

Thanks Jane. What else can you tell me about raising a child in St. Croix. I realize that is a loaded question but any help would be appreciated. I am a federal employee and I am slowly considering applying for a transfer so any help on real estate would also be great

rkuchar,
I have a 2 yr old son and a 9 yr old daughter. There are many good and bad things about raising children in STX. The good things include having a very tight knit community (highly dependent on which school your child attends). My daughter has a very very busy social schedule here, and it is wonderful for her age group. The sleepovers, buck island trips, snorkeling.. I never see the girl! They get a list of after school activities that they can join, my daughter is in the enviroment club and in Girl scouts... I honestly feel she would suffer the most of the whole family combined if we left the island!
For those with smaller children, there is not a nursery school that begins before age 2. The Stone house is where my son just started (yesterday) and it is a "waldorf inspired" school that is great.
The unfortunate side belongs to some of the "older people" that seem to hate kids and as I experienced at the South Shore Cafe, not a happy place for children. It's kind of strange really, the whole island seems to revolve around children, but then they get shunned almost shockingly at times.

The other difficult thing is getting a babysitter. We use junior/senior girls from Country day, which works great, but only for short periods and not late at night. So be prepared to spend lots of family "quality time" :0)

Hope this helps!
Lindsay
