Good Day,

I hope this query finds everyone in good mind, body, and spirit,

I was reviewing some rain forest type land for sale in St Croix, USVI and saw the following and was not sure what it means?
Restrictions: Arch. Approved

I wanted to build a sustainable bamboo structure in the rain forest area and was told I needed to find out if the island allows such things.

http://ibuku.com/

IBUKU is an international design-build team creating luxury bamboo structures, furniture, & gardens that connect people with nature in groundbreaking ways.

Thank you in advance for you sincere hearts and replies

Sunni

Check with DPNR but I imagine it means that whatever is built must be architecturally approved and appropriate. You can also inquire directly to the listing agent.

Any permitted structure built will have to meet the building codes which include everything needed to withstand the cat 5 hurricane winds. That bamboo doesn't look like it would hold through a tropical depression.

Think of the cistern and water collection logistics.

I am not sure about the data regarding winds but it was stated to be earthquake proof or resistant.

Each time that this subject is brought up there are a wide range of answers given. Some are fact, some are opinion.
If you make an appointment and sit down with a local architect you can get your questions answered in a few minutes. Most things people want to build can happen. Maybe a few mods.

That's great but is it hurricane resistant?
As mentioned, the listing agent should be able to answer your question or DPNR or an architect.

Here's what happened in Hurricane Hugo on STX.

It could happen again, like it did in Marilyn.
We've been extremely lucky since then with minimal hurricane impacts but every year, we can and do face the same anxieties during hurricane season.

Yeah, I just paid the bill to renew my hurricane insurance. Have to watch that video every year before forking out all the dough.

Yes,
I have seen that video before and have lived through one in Hawaii. The building beside mine caught on fire from a transformer.

I will wait until I am ready and consult with the proper folks prior to ensure all is as required.

Thank you.

I can't.
It really upsets me too much.
I just start getting ready in May before hurricane season and pray like the dickens while watching the weather channel every day as they roll off the African Coast. The intensity of these hurricanes have been increasing.
We are lucky, so far, but always best to be prepared.
I love winter and spring months. Cool and relaxing!
