Pros and cons of being on waterfront

ST C condos on STX are a nice compromise IMO.

+1

We live at St C and settled there knowing what we were in for. Yes, the sea spray is constant, but so are the sound of the rolling waves below us and the incomparable view across Pelican Cove to Christiansted and out to Buck Island. On full-moon nights, the scene is breathtaking. As others have mentioned, there are steps you can take to minimize the corrosion--e.g., covering your TVs and other electronics when not in use, getting your car's underside washed regularly, and car-waxing your appliances and fans. Lithium grease and WD-40 will be among your closest friends, and you'll need to clean (especially your windows) much more frequently to rid yourself of the crud the breezes deposit. We've grown accustomed to the dampness--it doesn't bother us.

If you want to be on the water in a condo, and a 1-BR is all you need, then you should definitely check out St. C. Amazing views, great location, and among the lowest monthly fees for waterfront condos.

There's a guy set up in the parking lot of Gas City on Northside Road. He does a great job for $10, which includes power washing the wheel wells and the entire undercarriage, as well as squirting WD-40 on some of the major parts that he can reach without crawling under the Jeep.

I see him once a month to have it done.
