ok i know this has been talked about a million times on these boards, but just to clarify a point to my parents, you are allowed to take animals (dogs) into the country without quarantining them/paying taxes on them? as long as you get the right vet certificates? also, what percent of apartments do you think allow pets, and is it like here in the states where you pay an extra fee per month to have a dog? (thats how the condos around pittsburgh are anyways)

Meg: Re: dogs in condos- most condo associations do not allow dogs. Regatta Point allows one small dog for owners only. At this point, I don't know of any that allow renters to have dogs. As you have read, apartments for the most part are units within a private home, and dogs are allowed or disallowed by the owners. It seems from looking at ads that "no pets" is more common than "pets allowed."

well i dont really want to live in a condo community...not really my style. so i guess i will just have to look around, or maybe negotiate with a private home owner 🙂

Hello Meg,

No quarantine or taxes for bringing your pet dogs (or cats) from the US to the USVI.

You need to get the right vet certificates, right.

Some places might ask for a higher security deposit because of a pet; but the monthly additional fee for a pet is not common.

I am not sure what percent of apartments accept pets, but its low.

Check out the Pets section:
