Question regarding surfvi dial up.

Does anyone else get an occasional error message with Surfvi dial-up where it says something about the server not acquiring or designating an address?
I usually get it after work around 6-8 pm.

What does this mean...is it just a fancy high-tech way to indicate a busy signal?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Onika: Does it happen to be your birthday today? Or is that ad the paper on the wrong day?? Happy Birthday!!!!

Anyway. I am having a heck of a problem with Vitelcom, getting the same kind of problem. I wonder if it is the phone lines?

I continuously have problems sending emails to people using surfvi, islandsvi and viaccess with the emails being returned as undeliverable for one reason or another. When I telephone the people to whom I'm trying to send mail, none of them can figure it out. It's VERY frustrating!

Happy Birthday, young and lovely Ms. Onika!!!!!

Happy Birthday Ms.Onika, if above reports are true!

I would heartily recommend to all three of you, and others, that you seriously switch to http://www.surfbest.net. For the last two years on island I never had, but one time during high season, one night, trouble connecting (for like 10 minutes, then I was on just as normal).

The dial up number is the same that folks that have Earthlink use, for lots more money.

$12.50/month..........can't go too wrong with that.

Good luck to all three of you and Happy Holidays!

ps - no I do not have any stock in surfbest!!! LOL

Thank you guys!!! Despite the spelling and formatting errors in the ad, I was brought to tears when I saw it. They ran it again today so we could at least have a pretty copy for our daughter's scrapbook.

And to my fellow Sag and curmudgeonly lass, STT RES...hope your birthday celebrations have been fab?!!!

Island Paul--you still lurking?! I give you two years before you are down here again! You miss us too much. Haha.

Why don't you get Innovative DSL? I saw a promo they are running in the paper $99 startup and $39 a month. For an extra $20 a month you can work faster and not deal with annoying dialup and tying up your home phoneline.

Local, you are the second person to suggest Innovative DSL.
Hmmm...
Don't you need to be in the line of sight of a satellite to get it or does it come over the telephone wire?
Also, where did you see the promo?? It's not on their wesbite (which has $50 first 3 months and then $60 thereafter).

THANKS!!!
