I've always wondered what the building is/was that sits on Ha'penny Beach. when we first moved here it looked abandoned, but we were walking over there yesterday and it seems to have been redone as apartments.

Also, where is the road that goes to it?

Thanks,
Linda

I believe it is apartments now. It was supposed to have been a hote/restaurant initially I believe but didn't have the proper zoning. Weird building... no balcony's facing the beach. The place is currently for sale ... Hamilton Real Estate.

In just reading the older thread I noticed Dan Oliver (FormerOhioGuy) had posted. I really miss reading his posts on St Croix! Anyone know what happened to him or if he's still on the island?

years ago ( early 70's) it was buily as a hotel named Diamond Katura (sp). The word was then it was built without the proper permits and worked was stopped. In the early 80's there were some free spirits living there as one of them inherited it was unfinished.
