i'm so mad that i cannot get to jamaica to see friends who will be there on business for less than $600!!! wtf?? this is the closest anyone has gotten to STT since i've moved here and i thought, "oh sure, i'll hop on over to jamaica to visit while you're in montego bay".... why is it more expensive to go to jamaica than CA from here?? no boat options or cheapo capeair flights... it just seems ridiculous that there is no inexpensive way to travel within the caribbean. i don't expect anyone to have any answers for me, i just wanted to rant 🙂
i feel better now.
but i still don't have $600!! grrrrr

it is a shame since we (or i will be) so close to my favorite vacation spot (montego bay). The cheapest way I found was to fly American to Miami and from Miami to Montego on Air Jamaica...i have many frequent flier miles on Air Jamaica so this probably wont be as cheap for you.

Yes, unfortunately that is the cheapest way... unless of course you do an overnight in St. Maarten or Antigua, but that ultimately will be more expensive. It is usually cheaper to do STT to Miami on American and continue the Miami- Montego Bay portion on American, usually, because switching airlines in an itinerary ususally drives up fares.

Also, because the Virgin Islands are in the EASTERN Caribbean.. inter-island travel within the Lesser Antilles is easy. However travel to other islands further west than PR and the DR can be cumbersome.

yes i just look on expedia...the cheapest is $ a person, but when I thought about it...my travels to jamaica will probably be less frequent once I move to STJ
