I can't answer your question as to how it got that reputation, as, from my perspective, it doesn't have that rep. Maybe it's different where you are?
Is it true? Not in the slightest. Just like in Anytown,USA, there will be a small selection of those that you describe (heck, I'M an alcoholic! But I haven't had a drink in over 17 months and the AA is very stong here). American rejects? Haven't met any of those, either. I have met many people that left America for their own reasons and plan never to return, but that doesn't mean that America rejected THEM. More like the other way around. Losers? Well, that's an arguable point. Based on Stateside parameters, some of these folks could be descibed that way. But, the fact that live here, the way they choose, and happily so, to me, makes them winners, wouldn't you agree?

At some point in using this board, take some time out and read the description of a troll. Very interesting reading...it's under board rules. Enjoy!
