Hello everyone, I have trying to get out of the states for a little while now and soon I will be doing it. Any chance on a very experienced certified residential appraiser getting a job down there and down the road starting myown company as I have my own company now in South Florida. Send me an email if anyone knows something. Take care everyone. Anthony, say hello to Rich and Jen at the Brew Pub

I think they require you to live here for five years working under another appraiser before you can get your own license. Might be three years. The rules and timelines vary for different types of real estate and construction/contractor licenses. Appraising in the USVI is a bit different than the mainland as we don't have "tract" homes all alike to use as comps, etc. For the more lucrative or specialty professions, there are also exams to pass. With the limited number of property transactions, there is room for only so many appraisers. I know some of the long-time appraisers who have really been hurting for business the past six months.
