What with slow season and hurricane possibilities the price may reflect that the landlord may just be glad to have any renters -- especially for a month.

You must admit that is an incredibly low cost for a 1 month rental on STJ. It's comparable to a weekly rental off season amount. I'd have expected a min. $1K amount, especially if it includes all utilities.
Exceptionally good deal if it's on the up and up.

STX - and airbnb which includes more unconventional accommodation such as a spare room or a couch in a private home. Very popular for the budget traveler who wants to "live local"!

Sorry, my mistake.
Thought WK was referring to an STJ rental.
I can believe that cost for STX.

That would have been an unbelievable deal for STJ! Most of the people that I know that live on STJ without roommates have places that are in the $1,200 range, studio or one bedroom, mostly without utilities included.

I moved here from Michigan 16 years ago. Kalamazoo is where I most recently lived. I am pretty sure I know which town you are referring to in the pinky. It's a lovely place and was included in many of my "Up North" vacations.

So Julie what was your plan of attack when you moved? What airline did you take? Where did you start? How much money did you bring? What's your story?
