I am moving to VI the second week of October and I would greatly appreciate any information you may have about short term rentals (studio-one bed for a low price) and service employment in the restaurant industry. Any advice or tips will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Amber Wimmer

Amber: There are a few short term rentals available. Check out villa fairview. I have a short term rental. It is a two bedroom so may be too large but you can check out www.stthomasvirginisland.com

Also, Flambouyant Manor

Donna offered great advice... look into the short term rentals she mentioned... you will want to stay there for a couple days - weeks while scouting out a more permanent apartment... you might also stay in a hotel just for a couple days and really try to find an apartment the first-second day on island by getting an island Trader and making calls and visits... but the short term is a better idea in case you don't find anything you like in the first couple of days.

If you look in the housing sub topic of the moving guide on this site - scroll to the top of this page and select moving... you will find a description, link, contact info for some of the short terms Donna mentioned.

All the best.

Amber - what do you consider cheap for a short-term rental? You may also check out http://concodelmar.com . The listing is a studio but there are other places in addition to the one listed that may fit your needs.
