You should check the classifieds on this site and on craigslist, but minimum is around $900, and those are infrequent. Some include refrig, some don't. Some may include water, some won't. Some may include utilities, some won't. Some neighborhoods are considered better than others.

If you can find a decent 2 bedroom on STT for $900.00, you better grab it and quick. Try $1500.00 and up considering where you want to live and view that the apartment offers, the better the view the higher the price.

Don't be so quick to grab at $900. Lots of things to consider.

We recently moved in to a 2 bedroom as our son is getting too big to stay in our room. We had a huge advantage in the place we were previously staying had new owners buy and they told us we could get out of our lease at any time since they wanted to do some work on property. This gave us the time and leisure to look around. Where you choose to live will be dictated by where you will be working and if you have transportation. We moved a bit further away from both our workplaces, but got a huge 2 bd place with a pool for quite a bit under $1500. That said, most WILL run you 1200+. You can find cheaper if you want to move way out west on island.

Furnished Apartments will always cost more, if WAPA is included it will cost more, if it has A/C it will be more, some places have to buy water or share a cistern and water expense, if it has propane it is usually a renters responsibility, having a pool will cost more. Most unfurnished places will have a frig and stove, semi furnished usually means a bed and basic furniture.
Usually 2 bdrm places will be $1000 - 2000. Depends on what is provided as explained above. There are good cheaper $800/900 apts but are much harder to find for a newer resident. Most apts are part of a private house and very commonly the owner lives on property - some apt. complexes but not many - Condo properties are usually on the higher end of the scale --there are also some rental investment properties with off island owners or off premise on island owners.

I just moved here in May, and looked at a wide range of 2BR apartments all over the island. I ended up choosing one on Crown Mountain on the pricier end-$1800 a month. It's a 2 mile straight shot to work at Nisky Center, without any traffic. I have a spectacular view, which was one of my major requirements. I was paying more in Massachusetts, but I had a 4 1/2 bedroom in Salem, which is pricey. My internet/Dish is included here, which also saves me a few hundred a month from what I paid in Mass. This apartment is fully furnished, washer/dryer/pool and parking. A lot depends on what you want and for me the view is worth every penny. Feel free to PM me if I can help with any questions. I'm thrilled with my move. If you are coming from the States, there are definite adjustments, but if you aren't set in your ways, and are willing to be flexible it's well worth it.

You can check the rental section in the Daily News, Island Trader and online at Craig's List to see various priced rentals that are presently available.

If your time allows for it having a car and driving around the parts of the island you are interested in and looking for rentals posted on driveways, trees and side of the road will also give you a chance at places that would never be advertised elsewhere. This is as close to word of mouth that a new arrival can expect but do not hesitate to explain to any one you may meet in a conversation that you are seriously looking for a place to rent, I have never advertised or put a sign on my downstairs apt when it is for rent and have just told as many people I know and it [almost] always has worked out great for many years now with referrals from them.
