Were going down to St Croix in late October an were wondering what the best and most affodable car rental agency would be ..and is a jeep the best bet for the 2 weeks we will be there.. thanks ahead of time..sean

With a jeep, you can get around OK, even if you go exploring in some of the more rugged areas. Other basic rental cars would also be fine if you don't expect to do any off-roading. Just watch out for potholes and storm runnels or you'll find yourself up to your axle.
There are quite a few rental companies to choose from. A few of the more affordable are:
Centerline Car Rentals
Judi of Croix
Olympic Car Rentals
There are also Hertz, Avis, Budget, etc. You're more likely to be able to dicker with a local company than with a franchise whose prices and deals are more scrutinized by management.

When we were in STX, we used Judi of St. Croix. I checked around and they had the best deals. She also brought the car to where we were staying.
Have never heard anything bad about them at all.
That's just my two cents.
