VISnorkeler: Fish Tails has the HH!;) The Sunset Grille has opened for dinner. Entrees from $26 (chicken) and up. I was hoping that they would expand the wine list- they have one affordable (to me!) wine and the rest are up there. They do serve the Cruzan Beach Club (aka the Patio) menu on the patio and at the bar. They do honor the Cellar/Pesce/Cafe Amici cards.

You know I know the Fish Tails HH!! 😉 I have tried the patio menu. I didn't think much of it. The food was just okay and the prices didn't match just okay. I am hoping the dinner menu is better.

My understanding is that the board of directors for both of these properties asked "the boys" to step in after the existing restaurants failed to meet the financial and service expectations of the respective boards. The boys were asked to step in based on their established reputation for running businesses that are successful in both providing quality restaurant experiences and fulfilling the financial responsibilities to their vendors in a timely manner. Other businesses around the island are lining up to do business with these boys -- that has to count for something!!
My wife and I tried Blue Moon shortly after we arrived on island -- what a freakin' disaster -- terrible food, discourteous service -- I had to try three different bar stools before I felt like one wasn't going to collapse under me. On top of that - two bar stools over - a local "bar stool sailor" who was hellbent on seeing how many happy hour cocktails he could put away before happy hour ended (he had 4 or 5 in the 45 minutes we were sitting there) slobbering over my wife and running off any guest with any sort of respectability. Don't get me wrong - we like a "dive bar" as much as anyone, but a "dive bar" in that location just doesn't add up.
Frankly, I am really looking forward to the change -- I am excited about the option of having a "nice" cocktail in a beautiful setting without the fear of being harassed by some fool hammered on $3 vodkas -- if I want that experience, there are dozens of other options (Fishtails, Molly's, Sib's ...) again, don't get me wrong, when I want to get my drink on in a serious fashion - you'll see me in these places.
Good Luck East End Boys -- fight the good fight!!

I think the Elysian was the one to ask them to come in. At Secret Harbour, there was a request for proposals, and theirs won. It is a beautiful setting. The food is excellent albeit expensive. Would love to see more little plates like at the Cellar. Now, if someone can just get the tattooed guys to put on a shirt after 6pm...

I'm guessing you haven't been here for very long and that you went to Blue Moon when it was in its final stages before closing. You are of course entitled to your opinion but I feel obliged (for the sake of posterity) to defend it against such blanket negativity. I too went there three times in the final month or two for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was OK but it definitely wasn't as good as it used to be. I can assure you though that, for many years, Julie and her staff served the community and visitors exceptionally well in all respects and I look back fondly and with my mouth watering on many a wonderful dinner there.

Is it just me? Does anyone else find the label "East End BOYS" somewhat demeaning? The partners involved in this group are MEN. Professional and solid experienced business-MEN. Theses MEN employ (issue paychecks and vendor contracts) to dozens of other working MEN and WOMEN! Where I come from calling a man a "boy" is insulting.

Not only are the "East End Boys" men, but at least one of them resides with his spouse and children in Miami.

You are quite correct - our visit to Blue Moon was late in it's life, and I in no way was intending on bashing the ownership of that entity. I merely wanted to share our singular experience with the hope that new new ownership can breathe some new life into a beautiful location. We are very much looking forward to the Grand Opening at Sunset Grille tonight (and probably fit in some time at the new Lattitude as well :@))

Did Jack's make the move over to Fungi's yet? Has anyone been there?

That's what I've heard. And a couple of Point Pleasant owners are helping to install the equipment, too.

There is a posibility that the bar may be open for New Years..........

Robert's at the Elysian, now Caribbean Fish Market (or something like that) has their soft opening on January 10th. I've seen the new menu, looks delicious and reasonably priced.

I hope Jack's food improves with the new location.

I hear Jack's at PP is still not open. Caribbean Fish said 2 weeks from last Saturday.

Fish Tails has the case for the fish market installed!!

Here is something that has got me hot under the collar: There is a fancy schmancy salad on a menu (restaurant doesn't matter) with papaya and jicama along with tomato and cukes. It comes out with lettuce, tomato and cukes only. Same price, no substitutes for the more exotic items. Boo!:-X

I am hearing rumors about Twisted Taco now???

CFM (Caribbean Fish Market) may be opening Wednesday. I think the bf goes on tomorrow to help set up, but I could have misunderstood him. Maybe he's going in for more training. Last week they were still missing something important, like chairs or plates PR something.

Fish Tails does indeed have the case...and a sign up that says OPENS WEDNESDAY, but not sure which Wednesday! *-)

Twisted Taco is still doing okay, but when Roberts and Ainsleys closed, I was totally taken by surprise. Kevin may advertise his marital troubles to the entire Island, but his business problems he keeps to himself.

Looking forward to Jack's re-opening. Still hope they improve their food from just okay, if not, location -- always thought Fungis was a cool little spot -- so I'd give them a couple chances even if the food is still just edible.

Any rumors on what's happening with the Tillets Garden space? How about Agave? My snowbirds are returning and they want to know!!
