Good afternoon board. I need to install an iron gate on my front door. Instead of the expense of a new gate, I thought I would attempt to find a location that sells previously used iron. I figure there must be a place somewhere on St Croix that provides this service. I would be greatly appreciative if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I don't know if this is a solution but it is worth a try... Call Walsh Metal Works at (340) 773-8169... They are at Peter's Rest, just behind the Coca Cola warehouse... They may be able to point you in the right direction...

Check the dump? They often lump like discarded goods together, metals, etc.

Home Depot sells new steel gate type doors with frame and hardware for $100. You might check them out. I would think that by the time you round up a used gate and refinish/hang it, it might end up costing more than you can buy new. Maybe you can get lucky and find a good used one, but most of the used ones I've seen on island are pretty rusty.
