I so very much appreciate all the comments and advice, this is just what i was looking for.... that being said, i am now thinking of a two week visit in July.... i'm even thinking of asking a "cabana boy" to join me for a few days as a distraction!!! i have been to hawaii and bermuda for vacations and i do know that island life is much different... i live in upstate ny, COUNTRY!!!! not anything close to NYC, i have never been to NYC just because, not my cup of tea... i have only flown in and out of JFK, etc...
So.... any thoughts as to where i should stay for a couple weeks?????

How much do you want to spend? Try Ronnie at Crystal Palace or Bill (?) has some short term places in the East End. I would really prefer the Ritz and I will come visit but that is probably not in the cards, eh?

Oh, lots of cabana boys already here 🙂 Not entirely necessary to bring your own.

Krissallen,

I can definately relate to how you are feeling. I have been through a HORRIBLE, NASTY divorce before and I would have moved to the islands iin a heartbeat had I been able to afford it then. I have not yet moved to the islands, but plan to by next year. Everyone that lives there now, and has lived there before and left, will tell you to do the pmv because island living doesn't suit everyone. But I think that you know yourself better than anyone else. Especially since no one on here actually knows you. If this is something you really want to do, then I say go for it. It is expensive to move there and will be just as expensive to move back if you end up not liking it. But you only live once, and you always have to option to move elsewhere if you decide you don't like living on the islands. You can make new friends down there and eventually find a job. Good luck in whatever you decide to do!! And if you do move down there, let me know how you like it and if you are glad you made the move 🙂

July is off season here, so you might even get a good deal at a villa for a two-week stay. It all depends on how much is reasonable for you to spend.

Enjoy your visit! There's a vacation planning board here, too; check out the tab at the top of the screen that says ViNOW.

You might want to check with Continuum Care, which is a home hospice organization. Also the offices of the oncology docs and/or CKCI (the cancer center part of the hospital.)

Dear krissallen
You are blessed to have all of these internet 'friends' give you their advice. Much of what they say is true and will help guide you during your next decision. Many of us here have been in the same place that you are now. The usvi can be a place that will be your home and your friend...or not. They most important advice that you have been given is....check it out first........

What ever you decide, be sure to not burn your bridges.
