Hi guys as an avid runner, about 40 miles a week I'm wondering if I can run outside anywhere on st Thomas or is it to dangerous. I really don't want to be stuck running on a treadmill.
Thanks
Dave

Most people run along the sidewalk on the Waterfront in Charlotte Amalie or at the track near the University of the Virgin Islands. Just don't run after dark.

There's also a St Thomas Association of Road Runners. I think they're on Facebook.

On the East end, people run roadside early in the morning on the Smith Bay Road with a loop through Sapphire; and on the NPS property in Nazareth just beyond Red Hook opposite the IEK High School. Magens Bay early morning on the North side is also a popular (and beautiful) spot for runners and walkers while the hiking trail there also provides a good steep workout while many runners also take in the Peterborg peninsula as well.

There are a lot of runners on St. Thomas, St. John and other islands preparing for the "8 tuff miles" run on February 27, 2016.

See information on website:

Magens out to Peterborg plus a little more= 10K
Waterfront from Havensight to Crown Bay & return= 6 miles
Waterfront from Havensight to the airport or to UVI and back (I can't remember the distance)
The Park Road near Red Hook is 1/2 mile, so lots of loops. Some people continue on to Cabrita Point.

Have you signed up for 8 Tuff Miles? It is February 27th on St John- Cruz Bay to Coral Bay. You can register now at Caribbean Surf Co in Red Hook or Tap Room on St John. On line registration until 2/24. No registration on race day! (St John 8 Tuff miles Road Race on Facebook)

There are a couple of STAR (St Thomas Association of Roadrunners on Facebook) events coming up-
3/13: STAR Historic walk-about: a timed walk in historic St Thomas
3/20:STAR Ultrasprint 1 mile

There is also a new Hash House group: VI Hash House Harriers on Facebook.

Welcome to St Thomas!
